Organised by the Institute for Ecological Economic Research gGmbH (IOeW) and the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation, Berlin

The project

Structuring sustained development is a complex social task which is being discussed intensively at present on many levels. In the current EU White Book "European Government" as a central element of Governance, the inclusion of all civil and social players in the decision processes is emphasised. The project "Governance and Sustainability" illuminated the players, their interests and methods of procedure, the forms of organisation, the institutions as also practical examples of governance in various social areas on regional, national and international levels. The focal point of the project was an international conference and four "summer academies".

The conference was carried out in co-operation with the Scientific Centre Berlin for Social Research (WZB), department "Regulation of Labour".
