Abstract
What sustainability strategies are companies currently pursuing? What do they think sustainability actually means, and how is sustainability institutionalised within the organisation? What role do government sustainability strategies and non-governmental sustainability initiatives play – and conversely, what influence is business exerting on government sustainability policies? To find answers to these questions, the „Meta-analysis – Political and economic sustainability strategies“ project investigated the sustainability strategies of a total of 16 national and international companies.
Six of them were subjected to more detailed analysis as Best Practice examples. They are not representative, but rather serve to depict current trends and set out the potential for development of corporate sustainability strategies. This brochure seeks to encourage companies to utilise sustainability issues as an opportunity and to integrate sustainability into corporate policy and practices as a specific goal.
