On 04th September 2016, the symposium „Opportunities of the energy transition in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania” took place in the Centre for Renewable Energies of the Federal State (Leea). The presentation „Bioenergy from a regional economic point of view – A report from the bioenergy-region Mecklenburg Lake District" illustrated significantly the relevance of the use of bioenergy for the region. The Mecklenburg Lake District is one out of three regions for which the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IOEW) calculated the bioenergy-related value added and employment effects. Main emphasis of the presentation was the illustration of preliminarily determined direct and indirect effects. Beyond, the presentation focused also on net employment effects as well as on key success factors and strategies to enhance the value added in the Mecklenburg Lake District region.
