Climate protection and digitalization: 6 key topics in the field of tension of an enabling technology with risk potential
What does the climate crisis have to do with digitalization? And what must politicians do now to enable climate-neutral digitalization that also serves climate protection? In this context, Prof. Dr. Bernd Hirschl gave a lecture on the urgency of the climate crisis and explained why it is important to consider digitalization. The first part of the lecture deals with climate relevance along the entire life cycle of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the second part deals with the climate protection potential of an “enabling technology”. Finally, the blackout risk of a digitalized energy system is pointed out. For all areas, the lecture shows the current balance between challenges and solutions as well as the status of implementation.
