Jan Wiesenthal presented the concept of energy sharing at the “Concepts for a shared energy supply” conference. Among other things, he showed the potential, costs and benefits for the general public that had been identified in a study. The survey shows that energy sharing could reach almost all households and makes a substantial contribution to the energy transition. However, a look at the current options for practicing energy sharing shows that there is currently no monetary incentive and that implementation is complicated. A law is to be passed soon to simplify energy sharing. However, the current draft has no monetary incentive either.
The current background to the conference was the German government's Solar Package 2024. It brings with it important innovations for decentralized power supply.
