Event by: Nachhaltigkeitsplattform Brandenburg, Geschäftsstelle: RIFS Potsdam, initiiert vom Ministerium für Landwirtschaft, Umwelt und Klimaschutz des Landes Brandenburg
02.06.23, Eberswalde

On June 2, 2023, the 4th plenary event of the “Brandenburg Sustainability Platform” took place in Eberswalde. The event focused on the current climate protection policy of the state of Brandenburg and was opened by the responsible Minister Axel Vogel. As the main author of the report on the climate plan , Prof. Bernd Hirschl, then gave an overview of the “to-dos”.

The energy and climate protection expert presented key excerpts from the report, which laid the foundation for the government's political climate plan. According to Hirschl, it will be crucial that there is effective political climate governance that commits all stakeholders sufficiently to the targets. In addition, all major issues in all sectors should be tackled ambitiously and promptly. Alongside the coal phase-out and, at the same time, the rapid expansion of renewable energies with financial participation as well as the heating and transport transition, this also includes issues such as the advisory and skilled labor offensive, strengthening forests and rewetting of moors. All of this requires reliable and sufficient funding as well as personnel in order to achieve a turnaround in Brandenburg and move towards climate neutrality.
