Presentation Self-Consumption of Solar Power

Conference: 2. Nationaler Kongress der erneuerbaren Energien und der Energieeffizienz
14.11.13, Solothurn

Self-consumption of power generated by photovoltaics (PV) undergoes a strongly growing importance in Germany. Main reason is the grid parity at the household level for PV, which was achieved in the year 2012 in Germany. This increases economic incentives to maximize the self-consumption and might result in measures to store PV generated electricity in batteries economically in future. Against this background, the nonprofit Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW) in Berlin carried out the first investigations on PV grid parity and self-consumption in the year 2010/2011 on behalf of Greenpeace Energy (Bost et al. 2011). Actual research projects continue to deepen this field of research at IÖW.
