In the course of the Berlin Energy Days on May 5th 2017 Bernd Hirschl, energy expert of the IÖW, discussed with Matthias Kollatz-Ahnen, Berlin’s Finance Senator, Julia Verlinden, energy-polticial speaker of the German parliamentary group Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, and others how the energy transition can serve as a component for sustainable development. To introduce the topic Prof. Hirschl presented the social-ecological aspects and dimensions that are to be observed in the energy- and particularly in the heat-transition. The subsequent panel discussion addressed the introduced subject and looked for answers specifically to the question how the social dimension as well as other framework conditions have to be shaped on national level and in Berlin for a successful energy transition.
