Value added and employment creation of renewable energies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania 2010 and 2030

The IÖW develops in conjunction with the Center for Technology and Society (CTS), TU Berlin, and Rostock Energie-Umwelt-Beratung e.V./Institut (EUB) as part of a scientific study, a mission statement for "Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as the leading region for economic development through the expansion of renewable energies" and identified points of an implementation strategy on behalf of the SPD state parliamentary group Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The IÖW estimated in a short study employment and value added effects for the base year 2010 and the scenarios developed for 2030. The IÖW is also giving advice to the project partners and the customer in creating the scenarios.

Basis for determining the value added and employment effects is the study "Local value creation through renewable energies" of the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW) in cooperation with the Centre for Renewable Energy (ZEE), University of Freiburg, which was published in September 2010 (IÖW / ZEE 2010). There on the one hand, the value generated in 2009 at the municipal level was quantified. On the other hand, the study identified the development of local value added in 2020 for selected local economic indicators.

The mission statement as well as the study were presented at an energy conference in march 2011.
