In order to further advance the transition from an economy based on fossil fuels to a sustainable, innovative economy based on natural material cycles, the Brandenburg state parliament has decided to develop a own bioeconomy strategy (state parliament resolution 7/4495). The aim is to expand existing expertise and knowledge in the bioeconomy and to establish appropriate structures to promote the associated transformation of the economy.
In the project ‘Priorities of a Bioeconomy Strategy for the Federal State of Brandenburg’, the Brandenburg Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Environment, and Consumer Protection (MLEUV), with the support of DBFZ, IÖW, and e-fect, has identified bioeconomic potentials for Brandenburg, drafted a vision, and developed recommendations for measures and fields of action for the development of the bioeconomy in the state. The drafted vision, measures and fields of action were developed in a participatory process involving representatives from various ministries and stakeholders from business, science and civil society.
Build on this, the same partners, are providing follow-up support for the development of the bioeconomy strategy for the state of Brandenburg. The project focuses on public and administrative participation as well as the editorial revision of the strategy. In an initial participation process, stakeholders from business, science, and civil society, as well as representatives from various ministries, will have the opportunity to submit suggestions and comments on the drafted measures and fields of action. This will be followed by a second round of participation in which comments will be made on the draft version of the strategy. The aim is to ensure that the strategy is supported by a broad alliance of actors.
IÖW, together with DBFZ, is responsible for classifying the feedback from the participation processes. The partner e-fect is in charge of organizing the participation process. The project will be concluded with the editorial revision of the strategy.
