Climate education in public spaces – the example of the smart solar bank

The information sheet is aimed at financially weak municipalities that want to sensitize and activate their citizens for climate protection despite tight budgets. Using the example of the smart solar bank, the aim is to draw attention to how everyday objects can be integrated into climate education and to provide tips for practical implementation. It will be shown that this can be realized even with a small budget and that it has a variety of positive effects in the community. Because objects like the solar bank can make climate protection tangible and sensitize for climate-friendly behavior. At the same time, there are many ways to integrate the objects into climate protection activities and projects. In this way, the municipality promotes its own image as a "climate municipality" and benefits in the long term from the commitment of its citizens. Best practice examples illustrate which municipalities have already successfully installed solar benches.

In addition, the information sheet provides financially weak municipalities with tips on financing and implementation and refers to guidelines with further information.
