Bioenergy Regions – efficient networks and processes as contribution to the energy transition Publication Series "renewable raw materials" Volume 37

This brochure is the final report of the accompanying scientific research on the funding measure “Bioenergy Regions” initiated by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. As part of this accompanying research, the IÖW quantified value-added and employment effects of bioenergy in three selected bioenergy regions for the years 2009, 2012 and 2015. Furthermore, strategies and success factors that can increase regional value added as well as possibilities for the transferability of the results and learning effects for other regions were derived. In the chapter “Determination of Regional Value Added”, the term value added is explained and possibilities for the quantification of value-added and employment effects, including the calculation of net-effects (exclusively for employment) are listed. Afterwards, the key results of the accompanying scientific research by the IÖW for the three selected bioenergy regions Bodensee, Mittelhessen und Mecklenburgische Seenplatte are presented.
