Costs of climate change and adaptation to climate change from four perspectives Impulses to questions of costs and adaptation from german climate economics

What are the costs of climate change, how high is the benefit of adaptation measures and how can these values be assessed? What does the future hold for Germany? And in which dimension are others affected by climate change?

This background paper for the first "Forum Klimaökonomie" (forum climate economics) within the scope of the stakeholder dialogue for climate economics gives a summary of recent research from projects out of the BMBF-focus on "Economics of climate change" and classifies the results within this research area. Scenarios for climate system changes are assumed as a given fact, possible economic effects will be outlined. The costs of climate change and climate change adaptation will be discussed from four perspectives: from the international, the national, the individual and societal perspective.
