Integrierte Produktpolitik: Stand, ausgewählte Aktivitäten und Perspektiven

Environmental policy has changed its focus towards product-related issues. Recently, a more integrative and systematic product-related approach has been introduced called „Integrated product policy“ (IPP). IPP is interpreted as a policy which is oriented towards products and services and their environmental performance along the whole life cycle; it intends to improve their environmental performance by supporting innovations. The discussion paper introduces into the topic by developing an IPP-definition and explaining its borderline. In addition to that, an intensive overview on product-related environmental concepts and measures in several member states of the EU (namely Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden and United Kingdom) is presented as well as a short view on the level of the EU. The paper concludes with a perspective view on future priorities.
