The report “Young People in the Climate Crisis” presents research results on psychological and emotional stress of young people in connection with the environmental and climate crisis. A focus lies on the situation of young climate activists. The report is based on a literature analysis, results of a representative online survey and qualitative interviews.
In the face of climate change and other environmental problems, the majority of young people in Germany are affected by negative emotions such as fear, sadness, anger and feelings of injustice. For activists, other stresses may be added in the context of their civic engagement.
The report identifies resilience factors, coping strategies, and possible support services for young people.
