For the use of reusable packaging to become the norm, it must be integrated into everyday routines. This applies not only to the everyday lives of consumers, but also to the food retail and catering sectors. This article outlines the changes that need to be made to integrate reusable packaging into everyday life in these different areas of implementation and the challenges that arise when changing routines. The compilation shows that reusable packaging in retail and catering is a transformation process that should be participatory. This in turn has a positive effect on consumer acceptance and enables them to extend their private reusable routines to out-of-home consumption.
