How can local governments implement the heating transition in a socially responsible manner, and what role do community-based approaches – such as cooperative heating networks – play in this process? At the IÖW, Johannes Hofmann researches on the opportunities and obstacles of the energy transition, with a focus on the decarbonization of heat supply. Through various projects, he examines how the transition to an affordable, climate-neutral heat supply can be organized. Therefore, the economist and political scientist primarily uses qualitative research methods.
