Monika Orlowski

Researcher

Monika Orlowski researches the electricity and heat transition. She is equally interested in the technical feasibility and in economic and social questions, such as distributive justice and acceptance.

Applying a broad spectrum of methods – ranging from energy system modelling to interviews and qualitative media analysis – she works on interdisciplinary research questions. In the project PyFlex, she investigates how pyrolysis plants can facilitate the integration of renewable energies into the German energy sector. In ProSuffizienz she aims to support prosumers in using self-generated electricity sparingly.

Main focus

  • Energy system modeling
  • Conflicts and acceptance in the energy system transition
