Die Wirtschaft der Systemtheorie

It is investigated if the application of the social system approach to economics is generally useful and especially able to integrate action and structure aspects of society, if by this the relationship of sociology and economics can be redefined It is shown that there are a lot of difficulties in interpreting money, payments and markets with the help of social system 'methodology'. Therefore firstly the usefulness of such concepts like self-reference, system/environment difference and functional differentiation for economics has to be questioned. Secondly the internal debates in economics are not picked up by such a subsuming procedure. Thirdly the substitution of action and structure aspects by an overarching communication context is not convincing.
