Workshop: Energy Transitions Workshop (Natural Resources Canada)
Veranstaltet von: Natural Resources Canada, Ottawa; School of Public Policy and Administration, Carleton University
27.06.19 - 27.06.19, Ottawa, Kanada

This presentation deals with the role of policy-making for transition. Its focus therefore is not gradual adjustment but systemic change. After analyzing the potential of governments to induce transition via policies and laying out the rationale behind such policies, it contributes to the debate by providing ten key factors for how policy makers can influence transition dynamics. We elaborate three of the key factors in more detail and relate them to the Dutch energy transition programme. The presentation concludes with a call to acknowledge the potential of heterodox economics and to adopt a learning culture in governance, which is bold and active, yet willing to develop new knowledge and competences.
