Two surveys in the PeerSharing project covered the attitudes of the population to sharing services and the concrete use of the partner platforms Kleiderkreisel, Wimdu, Drivy and flinc. Although peer-to-peer sharing is still a niche phenomenon, its potential is large. Economic benefits are the overriding drivers for using peer-to-peer sharing services; however, environmental motivations also play an important role. The overall attitude towards peer-to-peer sharing is positive. In addition, learning effects can be identified: people who already practice peer-to-peer sharing in a particular area are more likely to use the same services in other areas in contrast to the majority of the general population, which is not familiar with peer-to-peer sharing.
