Convention: „Prosumer in der Energiewende“

The talk presents the study “Prosumer potentials in NRW 2030” issued by the IÖW on behalf of North Rhine-Westphalia‘s (NRW) consumer advice centre.
The study shows that about 2,6 million prosumer plants on and in residential houses could contribute to the energy supply in NRW in 2030. So far, about 150.000 households cover parts of their power demand by means of photovoltaics or combined heat and power. Due to a considerable increase in these fields and additional tenant-run electricity projects, this number could rise about 17-times until 2030.
With the possible 2,6 million power plants, NRW’s private households could cover about a quarter of their anticipated electricity consumption in 2030. Under ideal conditions, 9,2 TWh could be generated per year, of which about a third could be used for private consumption or “Mieterstrom”.
