Prof. Hirschl reported on important strategy elements for the path to climate neutrality based on current research work. Among other things, he pointed out that there is still no clear CO2 budget for Berlin, as there is a very wide range due to different calculation methods. Nevertheless, he said, the climate policy to date is far from sufficient, which is why a more binding and ambitious policy is needed. This can be done, for example, by introducing a climate council and sector targets, but also participation and dialog formats such as round tables or commissions. This should help find solutions to conflicts between social and environmental goals and climate protection, while ensuring a high level of acceptance. Moreover, these conflict arenas must be considered in each sector.
