Climate Preparedness Portal: A guide to climate services that prevent health impacts of climate change

The extraordinary hot summer in Europe 2018 gave further evidence that climate change impacts our society and economy. Besides ambitious climate protection it is equally important to prepare for the unavoidable impacts of climate change. The Climate Preparedness Portal (KLiVO Portal, www.klivoportal.de) of the German government supports municipalities, companies and the civil society with quality proven information and tools to combat the challenges of climate change. The KLiVO Portal provides eight climate adaptation services specifically for the heath sector, for example a recommendation for the compilation of heat-health action plans and information on bathing water quality. In addition, users need further services on vector-borne diseases and infectious diseases related to climate change. The German Environment Agency has initiated a user-provider-network for adaptation services in order to refine services and give recommendations for further required services as well as support the transfer the knowledge into action.
