Digital Technologies for Biodiversity Conservation in Agriculture Technology Report

The digitalisation process in agriculture not only influences plant and animal production, but also biological and genetic diversity on agricultural land. From today's perspective, the environmentally sound design and use of digital technologies is crucial. The digitalisation of agricultural processes is currently primarily oriented towards economic aspects. Biodiversity-promoting measures are merely a side effect. Due to research gaps, the question arises as to which positive and negative effects various digital technologies will have on biodiversity. This technology report examines three types of digital technologies and their modes of operation, that currently have the greatest potential in terms of biodiversity conservation and protection. The analysis of the technologies is based on interviews with experts, that have assessed the risks and opportunities of these technologies for biodiversity conservation.
