A regional market design for a reliable power supply

The future power market will have to integrate large quantities of renewable energies. The current market design is not prepared for this and should therefore be reformed. According to the authors, the strengthening of regional impulses should definitely be taken into account. Incentives that favour a regional balancing of electricity supply and consumption contribute to systemic efficiency and resilience as well as to security of supply. Simultaneously, they increase local acceptance and participation.
