In his foreword to the journal 'Energiewirtschaft im Nordwesten', Bernd Hirschl deals with the question which technical, social and political conditions and changes are necessary to make the energy transition in the region successful.  He refers to the manifold projects and activities in the region that already take place, concerning topics such as citizen participation and flexibility options, and of which several examples are subject to the journal.
