Regional economic effects through renewable energies Procedural and financial participation and acceptance

The project "Regional Value Creation, Participation Models and Acceptance in the Energy Transition (ReWA)" investigated how regional economic effects, possibilities of financial participation as well as the local acceptance of renewable energy projects (RE projects) are connected. From case studies in six rural municipalities, recommendations for action could be derived that promote participation and acceptance among local residents. The results show: Municipalities can use some leeway to secure economic added value for their region from local RE projects. At the same time, the positive attitude of the population towards the local energy transition is strengthened. The most important success factors are municipal activities and participations, citizen energy companies, active and transparent communication, and cooperation with other active local actors.
