The German Blue Angel is one of the first and most successful eco-labels, which can be used to label and advertise environmentally friendly products. The eco-label defines an ecological product standard for premium products in approximately 130 different product categories. With the recent revision of the award criteria for heat pumps, gas condensing boilers, cogeneration modules, wood pellet stoves, boilers for wood pellets and wood chips, and hot water tanks, the Blue Angel makes an important contribution to the development and use of more efficient and environmentally friendly space heaters and to protect the climate, the environment, and public health. This paper gives an overview of the main changes of the award criteria and contains web-links to more information for applicants and consumers, which can be downloaded from the website of the Blue Angel and its publication area.
