Companies are among the central actors of modern societies. The workshop examined chal-lenges and limits of companies partaking in a sustainable society. We understand the term "par-taking" as proactive action of companies towards Sustainable Development, which is not only reactive and correcting but has a positive impact on society.
The workshop had four building blocks. The first two blocks "Sustainable Business Linkages, and Governance" and "Corporate Social Responsibility" discussed various aspects of the "posi-tion" of business within the society. The building blocks "Innovations for Sustainable Patterns of Production and Consumption" as well as "Sustainability Communication and Marketing" asked showcase questions how changes in central spheres of business action and functioning might induce sustainable developments.
The workshop was a cooperation project between the GELENA research group and the IÖW. It was a closed event for members of the GELENA team and the IÖW, and invited guests.
