Online value added calculator for renewable energies – Update 2020

The Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW) and the Agency for Renewable Energies (AEE) developed, on behalf of and in cooperation with the Rhineland-Palatinate Energy Agency, an update of the previously jointly developed online calculator, which supports local authorities, to develop the local value-added effects through the expansion of renewable energies. With the new online value-added calculator, users can calculate value-added effects for 27 different renewable energy technologies for 2019, 2025 and 2030. Specifically, the value-added effects is presented as the sum of the components of employment income, corporate profits and municipal income in the form of taxes and duties on income and profits. The entire value chain of a renewable plant – from planning through installation to actual operation – is taken into account. Finally, users are able to calculate the CO2 equivalents reduction in order to check the positive effects of renewable energy systems on climate protection. The calculator (German language only) can be found at www.unendlich-viel-energie.de/wertschoepfungsrechner.
