The report presents an overview on “Environmental Product Information Schemes” (EPIS) which provide ecological information on products and services. EPIS are intrepreted in a wide range which encompasses mandatory (e.g. energy label, product declarations) and voluntary approaches (e.g. eco-labels); also included are third-party labelling as well as green claims of companies which are self-certified. This range is closely linked to the ISO-typology of labelling elaborated in the standard 14020.The report consists of country reports each describing the state-of-the-art with EPIS in all Member States of the European Union and Norway, further a report on EPIS at EU level and a summarising paper providing major findings and conclusions from the EU wide overview.
