The Blue Angel eco-label stands for high credibility in regard to product-related ecological requirements. Against the background of the guiding principle of sustainable development, the question arises as to what extent the award criteria of the Blue Angel can be supplemented by social requirements, which product groups from the Blue Angel portfolio would be suitable for this purpose and which social criteria should be given particular attention.
To this end, this project investigated which product groups are of interest for the integration of social criteria from the perspective of both manufacturers and consumers. By means of a consumer and a manufacturer survey, these product groups were identified and proposed for the extension of the award criteria by social requirements. In addition, social criteria were prioritised from the point of view of manufacturers and consumers according to their respective preferences.
