Value-Added and Employment Effects of Photovoltaics and Wind Energy in the Netherlands

The aim of the collaboration between the ECN and the IÖW was an adaption of the methodology of the IÖW WeBEE model for the Netherlands as well as the application of the model in order to achieve first results for value added and employment effects by renewablle energy technologies in the Netherlands.

Within the scope of this project, the methodology of the WeBEE model for the Netherlands was adopted for three selected renewable energy value-added chains: onshore wind energy as well as two different photovoltaic systems. With this, the value added and employment effects by photovoltaic systems and onshore wind turbines in the Netherlands were calculated. In addition, example calculations for selected photovoltaic systems and an onshore wind turbine were carried out.

The results of the project were presented at the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) in September 2017 and published in the EU PVSEC Conference Proceedings.
