Putting a face on climate protection – through municipal climate protection management personnel

The information sheet is aimed at financially weak local authorities that want to integrate climate protection more firmly into their administration despite tight budgets. The aim is to draw attention to the advantages of municipal climate protection management in a compact form and to provide practical advice on setting up an office. It will be shown that a climate protection management office relieves the municipal budget and the climate at the same time. By creating a staff position for municipal climate protection management, a municipality strengthens climate protection within and outside the administration. Climate protection managers who receive funding at the outset can set up sustainable structures, implement short- to medium-term measures and acquire additional funding for more climate protection. Best practice examples illustrate which municipalities have already successfully implemented this. References to guidelines show where interested municipalities can obtain further information.

In addition, the information sheet provides financially weak municipalities with tips on financing and implementation and refers to guidelines with further information.
