Jan Wiesenthal (né Knoefel)

M. Sc. Economics and Management Science

Jan Wiesenthal researches how decentralized energy systems should be structured and what role prosumers – such as households with their own solar panels – play in them. The environmental economist specializes in energy system modelling. He is currently working on his PhD as part of the Steuerboard Energie junior research group at Leuphana University on the financing and promotion of renewable energies.  

In addition to his research, Jan Wiesenthal is involved in the Council for Citizens' Energy. His vision: an energy supply from 100 percent renewable energies owned by citizens.
